This blog post documents how to certify the Open Horizon anax agent which runs on edge devices whenever Linux distributions release their most current offerings. Every six months, the Ubuntu and Fedora communities announce a new release. Most recently in April 2022, Ubuntu introduced Ubuntu 22.04 and Fedora introduced Fedora 36. Other Linux distros release their LTS versions on longer cycles. The Yocto community introduced their Yocto 4 Kirkstone LTS release in April. In May 2022, Red Hat announced their latest Red Hat Enterprise Linux point release (RHEL 8.6) and version (RHEL 9.0). There are many other Linux distros that contain the necessary prerequisites to run the Open Horizon anax agent.
The Open Horizon community should strive to certify / test our software on modern / evolving Linux kernels and distributions.
More rarely, Linux will support a new microprocessor architecture. The Open Horizon community is excited to welcome support for the RISC-V microprocessor architecture.
